Johston appointed as acting U.S. Attorney

Lisa Johnston is the new acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern Distract of West Virginia. She replaces Mike Stuart who resigned last week. She will remain in the role until President Biden nominates a permanent replacement.

Pratt home destroyed in fire

Fire destroyed a home on Center Street in the Pratt area. Firefighters had difficulty getting water because of problems with the city’s water source. No one was hurt. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Man dies in industrial accident

A Preston County man is dead after falling into an industrial machine at a mulching facility near Hazelton. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating.

Flood debris clean up help is available

There is some help on the way to clean up flood debris. The Kanawha County Commission approved a flood debris cleanup assistance plan. You can submit a request for help by calling the planning office through March 9th.
