WV National Guard increasing response to COVID-19

FEMA has approved the West Virginia National Guard’s request to increase the number of personnel responding to the pandemic. Four-hundred Guard members are now part of the response, and the federal government will reimburse the National Guard for 75-percent of the cost.

200 new cases of COVID-19 in WV

There are more than two-hundred new cases of COVID-19 in West Virginia, and five more people have died. Officials say two nurses recently died from COVID-19 complications.

COVID-19 testing blitz continues

Governor Justice says the state will continue its COVID-19 testing blitz, and is now processing around six-thousand people per day. The goal is to isolate “super spreaders.” Health officials say those few highly contagious people cause 80-percent of other infections.

Justice at odds with President over stimulus

Governor Justice is urging President Trump and Congress to keep negotiating on COVID-19 relief package, and to get it done before Election Day. The governor says he’s concerned that more small businesses will fold if they don’t get more financial help.
