139 New cases of COVID-19 in WV

West Virginia health officials are confirming almost one-hundred-forty new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of active cases to nearly 17-hundred. More than eighty people are in the hospital with the virus, and thirty-five of those are in ICU.

Layoffs at Hollywood Casino

Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races is laying off move the five-hundred workers beginning August 15th. The casino is blaming the impact from the pandemic for the reduction in force.

More than twenty people arrested in six state drug bust

More than two dozen people from West Virginia and five other states are under arrest on drug charges. The charges involve distribution of cocaine, fentanyl, heroin and a PCP-laced substance. The U.S. Marshal Service and the West Virginia Air National Guard assisted with the arrests.

Parents & educators calling for reopening plan

Parents and educators from across West Virginia held a virtual workshop to discuss concerns and solutions for reopening school this fall. A new group called “Our Students First” is working with education boards to create a well thought out plan.

Bar Closure Extended in Monongalia County
