Gas station robbed at gunpoint

Huntington police are investigating an armed robbery at the Shell Station on 8th Avenue. A man with a gun demanded money from the register, and ran from the scene with cash.

Man arrested for threatening judge

A Massachusetts man is under arrest for threatening a Kanawha County judge. Forty-year-old Keith Lessard is accused of mailing threatening letter to the judge in a scheme to extort money.

Former Marshall student on trial for rape

The trail of a former Marshall student, accused of raping two students, will continue today in Cabell County. Twenty-two-year-old Joseph Hardin is charged with sexual assault against two women in 2018. The jury heard open arguments yesterday.

Vape pen & hand sanitizer cause car fire

A vape pen and bottle of hand sanitizer caused a car fire in nitro. The vape pen overheated and burst into flames and a nearby bottle of hand sanitizer help spread the fire. It melted the center console and filled the car with smoke. No one was hurt.

Part of Kanawha Blvd. Close For Repairs

Drivers could see delays because of a large hole in the road. The sink hole closed one lane of Kanawha Boulevard in Charleston Tuesday morning and the westbound slow lane and sidewalk area in the 1500 block on Kanawha Blvd. East were shut down. Crews may still be working in the area.

WVU Mascot’s Tenure Is Extended to 2022

The West Virginia University Mountaineer mascot and alternate will get to serve an extra year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Two Arrested on Child Trafficking Charges

Kanawha County deputies made two arrests over the weekend in investigations related to child trafficking and soliciting minors. Mark Alan Armstead of Dunbar and Jonathan Vazquez-Gonzales of Nitro were arrested. Both face felony charges that carry sentences of five to 30 years incarceration and up to $25,000 in fines.

Two more West Virginians die from COVID-19

Two more people have died from COVID-19. The latest deaths were an 83-year-old Kanawha County man, and a 74-year-old Logan County man, raising the state’s death toll to over 140. There are over 19-hundred active cases, and more than 120 people are hospitalized with the virus.
