Kanawha County high school graduation ceremonies held this week

Herbert Hoover High School will be the first Kanawha County school to hold a socially distanced in-person graduation ceremony today. The commencement will be held at ten o’clock this morning at Laidley Field, and will kick off a week of graduation ceremonies for all eight high schools in the district.

Churches in three counties dealing with COVID-19 outbreaks

Governor Justice says churches in three counties are dealing with coronavirus outbreaks. There are over forty cases linked to a church in Greenbrier County, another eighteen in Ohio County, and nine in Boone County. The Governor says face masks are a great defense against spreading the virus, but stopped short of making them mandatory.

More COVID-19 cases linked to Myrtle Beach travel

Preston County health officials say four more positive COVID-19 cases have been linked to travel to Myrtle Beach, bringing the total number of cases involved in the outbreak to thirty. Six other counties are reporting cases linked to travel to Myrtle Beach.

COVID-19 cases spiking in WV

West Virginia is one of a dozen states that is seeing a spike in COVID-19 cases. Over one-hundred people have tested positive since Friday for a total of over 25-hundred. A 73-year-old Mineral County man has died, bringing the death toll to 90.

4th Anniversary of devastaing floods

Today marks the fourth anniversary of the devastating 2016 floods. More than twenty people died, and thousands of homes were damaged or destroyed. RISE West Virginia is still in the process of rebuilding some of those homes, and two schools are still under construction.
