Logan County deputies say a woman died after being struck by a vehicle Monday night on U.S. 119. 24-year old Courtney Brown of Logan was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office. The accident happened when it was dark Monday around 9:45 p.m. and the driver, 26-year old Phillip Workman of Danville, told deputies he had left his job at a restaurant at Fountain Place Mall and was headed home when the accident happened. Workman said he was in the right lane driving around 70 miles per hour and said he could not see anyone. Workman told deputies a woman came across the median on the left side of the road and ran out in front of him. After striking Brown with his vehicle, Workman said he pulled off to the side of the road and called 911.
