Charleston woman is honored by the FBI for her work around the state

A Charleston woman has been awarded by the FBI for her work with promoting peace and understanding between faiths in West Virginia, according to a news release from the FBI Pittsburgh Field Office. Ibtesam Sue Barazi received the FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award on Friday for traveling the state in 2023 teaching courses to educate community members on different religious traditions, interfaith relationships and navigating religious differences. Barazi has also collaborated with members of the Islamic Association of West Virginia Sister’s Program to help stock food pantries across Charleston during shortages.
