USS WV Sailor to be laid to rest after eight decades

A USS West Virginia sailor killed in the Pearl Harbor attack will finally be laid to rest this month. Electrician’s Mate 3rd Class Charles Darling Brown enlisted in the Navy at age 19 and 1938 and was killed in the attack at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Brown was among the 106 sailors aboard the battleship who lost their lives in the attack.The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency said EM3c Brown was identified and accounted for in 2021. He’ll be laid to rest soon in his hometown of Arcola, Illinois, after 82 years.
