West Virginia won’t do business with some banks over stance on fossil fuels

The West Virginia Treasurer has stopped giving state business to some large banks over their stance on fossil fuels, and now four more banks have been added to list. Citigroup, Inc., HSBC Holdings, PLC, TD Bank, N.A. and The Northern Trust Company are among the banks that have stopped giving loans to companies that produce coal, oil and natural gas and the treasurer doesn’t want to reward them with state funding Fifth-Third Bank and the Bank of Montreal recently clarified their policies can continue to do business with West Virginia.
