Kroger workers reject contract

Kroger workers are rejecting a contract offer from the grocery store chain, and voted to approve a strike. Health care coverage is the main sticking point. A strike has not been scheduled.

Charleston Fire Dept. has a new chief

The Charleston Fire Department has a new Chief. Mayor Amy Goodwin appointed Shawn Wanner to the position. He is the current Assistant Fire Chief, and has been with the department since 1996. Wanner succeeds Jeff Jackson, who is retiring.

CAMC workers get $1,000 bonus

Charleston Area Medical Center will give employees who worked full-time during the first few months of the COVID-19 pandemic a one-thousand-dollar bonus. More than 450 staff members have tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

WV Supreme Court allows soccer tournament to kick off

The state Supreme Court says that AAA prep soccer teams can play in the state championship this weekend. The high court reversed a lower court ruling halting the tournament over COVID-19 testing disparities. The boys championship games is this morning at 10 a.m., and the girls at 1:30 p.m.

Justice concerned about spike in COVID-19 cases

Governor Justice says he is on high alert as the positive COVID-19 test rate jumped to over three-percent. Illinois fugitive arrested in Beckley

An Illinois fugitive is under arrest in Beckley. After an initial traffic stop in Ohio, Juan Torkelson fled to West Virginia. More than 20 people arrested for shoplifting

More than twenty people are under arrest for shoplifting, and police recovered about four-thousand-dollars in stolen merchandise. Lowe’s in Kanawha City has lost thousands of dollars in merchandise from shoplifting. Police conducted a weeklong sting operation.

Suspect wanted in Meigs County shooting

The Meigs County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a person of interest in a Rutland shooting. An injured woman was flown to St. Mary’s Medical Center in unknown condition. Deputies are looking for 54-year-old Anthony Smith. He may have been injured in the shooting.
