WV DMV extending driver’s licenses and vehicle registrations

The West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles is announcing a blanket extension for many driver and vehicle transactions. The deadline is being extended to September 30th for driver’s licenses and vehicle registrations. You can make an appoint with a DMV office online, and fifteen offices will offer skills tests by the end of July.

Active COVID-19 cases over 1,000

There are more than one-hundred new cases of COVID-19 in West Virginia, with active cases now topping one-thousand. The number of people in the hospital is creeping up to fifty, and fifteen people are in the ICU.

Schools will use extra time to prepare

Governor Jim Justice announced this week that the target date for starting school will be September 8th. West Virginia schools Superintendent Clayton Burch says a delayed start will give schools more to prepare, and to make sure schools are safe.

Man arrested after pursuit

A man is under arrest for attempting to flee when a state trooper tried to pull him over. The pursuit ended in a crash at Washington Street and Ruffner Avenue. No one was hurt.

Hurricane restaurant fights mask mandate

The Bridge Café and Bistro in Hurricane could lose its food service permit if workers don’t start wearing masks. The Putnam County Health Department says that if the restaurant doesn’t comply by today, it’s permits will be suspended.

Postal worker pleads guilty to voter fraud

A West Virginia mailman is pleading guilty to voter fraud. Forty-seven-year-old Thomas Cooper admitted to changing five mail-in ballot requests from Democrat to Republican. The alterations were caught by an elections official in the Pendleton County Courthouse.
