Ohio man facing abduction charges

A Wellston man is facing abduction charges for forcing a woman into a vehicle on State route 683. He crashed the car twice and the woman was able to get away. She wasn’t hurt.

Appalachian Power wants to create a surcharge

Appalachian Power is asking the West Virginia Public Service Commission for permission to create a surcharge to recover costs associated with infrastructure improvements. The company says the annual fee would be smaller and the effect on rates would be lower and more gradual. They’re asking for a nearly fifty-million-dollar increase.

Shooting Investigation Continues

Charleston police officers released the name of a man found dead Friday afternoon. 20-year old Nathaniel Spivey was found with multiple gunshot wounds when police responded about 2:30 p.m. to a shooting in the 200 block of Wertz Avenue. Lawyers are asking to delay the sentencing of Reta Mays, the former staffer the VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, who pleaded guilty to intentionally killing seven patients with fatal doses of insulin. WV high schools receive $4 million extracurricular fund

West Virginia high schools will get four-million-dollars from a newly created Extracurricular Equity Fund for athletic programs and other extracurricular activities to replace loses and fill budget gaps created by the pandemic. Governor Jim Justice is matching the West Virginia Department of Education’s $2 million allocation to the fund.
