A Wellston man is facing abduction charges for forcing a woman into a vehicle on State route 683. He crashed the car twice and the woman was able to get away. She wasn’t hurt.

Appalachian Power is asking the West Virginia Public Service Commission for permission to create a surcharge to recover costs associated with infrastructure improvements. The company says the annual fee would be smaller and the effect on rates would be lower and more gradual. They’re asking for a nearly fifty-million-dollar increase.

Charleston police officers released the name of a man found dead Friday afternoon. 20-year old Nathaniel Spivey was found with multiple gunshot wounds when police responded about 2:30 p.m. to a shooting in the 200 block of Wertz Avenue. West Virginia high schools will get four-million-dollars from a newly created Extracurricular Equity Fund for athletic programs and other extracurricular activities to replace loses and fill budget gaps created by the pandemic.
