Police are looking for a suspect involved in a carjacking near the WVU campus. The man pushed the driver out of the way and took off with a silver Nissan Sentra. No one was hurt. The suspect is described as a man in his mid-20s with dark hair, a beard and a hat.

Freshman retention rate up at Marshall University

The freshman retention rate at Marshall University is at an all-time high. Nearly eighty-percent of first-time students who enrolled in the 2019 fall semester returned the following year. The new fall semester will begin August 23rd with plans to resume in-person classes.

Slight uptick in active COVID-19 cases

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting just over four-hundred new cases of COVID-19. Active case rose slightly, to just over seven-thousand. Health officials project that 65-percent of West Virginians 12-years-old and older will be vaccinated by June 20th, and that’s when Governor Justice says he will drop the mask mandate.

Power restored after strong winds

Power is slowly coming back on to thousands of homes and businesses across state after strong winds yesterday. Appalachian Power says, at its peak, about 30-thousand customers were in the dark on Sunday.
